Henry Kesselring Dies; Rites Set

Henry M. Kesselring, 73, a lifelong resident of Johnson and Iowa counties, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home, 321 West Benton Street, after a lingering illness. He was a retired farmer.

Born at Sharon Center July 20, 1886, he was a son of Goettlieb and Albertina Seigling Kesselring. He attended Boone school.

Mr. Kesselring was married to the former Alta J. Powell January 26, 1910. The couple farmed north of Wellman and later moved to Iowa City. He was married to the former Mabel Oliva in July, 1949.

Mr. Kesselring was a member of the Windham community church.

Survivors include his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Harry Morgan, of Iowa City, and four sons, Carroll, of Parnell, Eldon, of Iowa City, Glen, of Fallbrook, Calif., and Dean of Neosha, Mo., and 13 grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Lena Hammer and Mrs. H. W. Strickler, both of Iowa City, and a brother, William, of Rolling Priarie [sic], Ind. Other survivors include one stepson, four stepdaughters and 19 step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Oathout funeral chapel here and at 3 p.m. at the Sharon Evangelical United Brethren church with the Rev. Howard H. Marty officiating. Burial will be in the Sharon cemetery. The family requests no flowers; contributions may be made to the cancer fund.
