Miss Marner Dies; Rites Set
Miss Susannah Marner, 88, of 211 Richards Street, a longtime Iowa City resident, died early today at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Beckman Butherus Funeral Home, with burial in the Sharon Evangelical Cemetery. Friends may call beginning Tuesday morning.
Miss Marner was born April 2, 1878, at Sharon Center, the daughter of Jonathan and Elizabeth Penrod Marner. She graduated from the Iowa City Academy in 1898.
She taught at the Boone School at Sharon Center for a short time after graduation. She was employed for about 30 years at Strubs Department Store where she managed the ladies ready-to-wear department.
Miss Marner was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and is a past worthy matron of it.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Beckman-Butherus Funeral Home here, with burial in Sharon Evangelical Cemetery at Sharon Center, Iowa.
Miss Marner was born at Sharon Center. She was employed in a local department store for 30 years.
