IOWA CITY

Roscoe Niffenegger, 86, 701 Oaknoll Drive, died Tuesday afternoon at the Oaknoll Retirement Residence following a brief illness.
He was born October 20, 1897, in Sharon township of Johnson County. He was a lifetime Johnson County farmer. He married Ida Grundbacher on Dec. 16, 1920, at Sharon Center. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and for over 58 years was a member of Richmond Lodge No. 96, AF & AM, Kalona.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, June Winborn of Iowa City; a son, Roscoe of Suisun City, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services: Thursday 2 p.m. at Sharon Center United Methodist Church with the Rev. Yon Schoenmaker. Burial: Church Cemetery. Friends may call at George L. Gay's from 3 until 9 p.m. today. Masonic Memorial Services at 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established.
