Mrs. Barbara Jane (Swisher) Stewart 89 of Coralville, Iowa passed away peacefully from natural causes at her home April 13, 2018. Born the youngest of 6 siblings September 1, 1928 in Bethel, Missouri to parents Earl and Mary (Crabtree) Swisher. She was married on her family’s farm to Marion Lamar Stewart on August 25, 1946 in Shelbyville, Missouri where she started her 72-year career as a homemaker. She was a devoted wife who was actively involved in the Daughters of the American Revolution Organization, was a girl scout leader, taught Sunday school, and lead woman club meetings during her membership of The First Christian Church, and was a master noodle maker.

She is survived by her husband Marion Stewart, their three daughters, Dana Andre (Tom Stone), Cynthia Hoenigsberg (Mike Hoenigsberg), and Lori Stewart (Todd Kirchner). Grandchildren Andrea Dotson (Mitch Dotson), Derek Andre (Josie Chandler), Merit Stewart, and Landis Stewart, along with 6 great grandchildren. Sister in-law LaVonn Swisher, sister in-law Jan (Stewart) Woods, brother in-law Norm Stewart (Virginia Stewart), and many nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceeded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 10 AM Tuesday April 17, 2018, at the First Christian Church 900 Lincolnshire Place Coralville, IA 52241 with Pastor Jill Michel officiating. Family committal services will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery 2043 Sunnyside Ave, Burlington, IA 52601 at 230 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Barbara’s husband Marion Stewart or in memory to the First Christian Church.
