J. R. Sheppard, who would have been 83 years old the twelfth of this month, died at his home in Morse at 5:00 o'clock Wednesday morning. He was one of the old time residents of the village, having conducted the store and postoffice there many years.

He is survived by three sons and three daughters, Harry, Will, R. T., Pearl and Mrs. Frank Akerly at Morse, and Mrs. Jerry Akers at Center Point.

Funeral services will be held at the family home at Morse, Friday afternoon, with burial in the village cemetery.

J. R. Sheppard who passed away at his home in Morse, Wednesday, February 2nd, was born in East Bridgeford, England, February 12, 1849. At the age of fourteen he sailed to America with his parents and they settled in Vineland, New Jersey. Years later he went to Geneva, New York, where on November 7, 1870, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. Gross, who preceded him in death November 26, 1929.

To this union were born six children:--Harry G., Richard T., Wm. W., Mrs. Annie Akerly and Pearl of Morse and Mrs. Jerry Akers of Center Point.

Mr. Sheppard conducted a General store in Morse for the past twenty years and was assistant Post Master for several years. Twenty-four grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren also mourn his loss. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday, February 5, with interment in Morse Cemetery.
