Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's church at Morse for Charles J. Beranek, who died at the University hospital in Iowa City at 9 p.m. Sunday after a lingering illness. The Rev. J. J. Hopkins officiated and burial was in the Morse cemetery.

Mr. Beranek was 58 years old, having been born near Morse Nov. 22, 1875. Until he became ill last July he was an employee of the Rock Island railroad. He is survived by his widow, Lillian, a son, Glenn, a daughter, Winifred, two brothers, John and Frank of Morse, and three sisters, Mrs. Charles Gill and Mrs. Henry Apitz of Solon and Mrs. Anna Snyder of Washington, Ia.
