Alta Kesselring Dies At Home This Morning

Mrs. Alta Janet Kesselring, 59, wife of Henry M. Kesselring, died at 9:40 a.m. today at her home at 321 West Benton Street, after a short illness.
Mrs. Kesselring was born in Iowa County July 14, 1888, the daughter of John and Margaret McCord Powell. She was married to Mr. Kesselring in 1910.
After their marriage, the couple lived on a farm in Iowa County, 18 miles southwest of Iowa City. They moved to Iowa City in 1938, when Mr. Kesselring retired from farming.
Mrs. Kesselring was a member of the Windham Evangelical Church and of the Church's ladies aid society.
Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Harry Morgan of Bondurant; and four sons, Carroll J. of Parnell, Eldon of Iowa City, Glenn of Rochester, Iowa, and Everett Dean of Cheyenne, Wyo.
Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Waiter Ihrig, of Kalona; a brother, Joe Powell, Parnell, and six grandchildren.
A short service will be held at the Oathout Chapel in Iowa City at 1:15 p.m. Friday, followed by a funeral service at the Sharon Evangelical Church at 2:30 p.m. and burial in the Sharon Evangelical Cemetery.
