Pauline Wasson, 97

Celebration of life services for Pauline Wasson, 97 of Pleasantview Home, Kalona, will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Sharon Center United Methodist Church in rural Kalona. Pastors Doug Cue and Leah Pogemiller will officiate. Burial will follow at the Trinity Cemetery in rural Mt. Union, Iowa. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 9 from 5-7 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.

Pauline Wasson died Friday, February 5, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a short illness. A memorial fund for the Sharon Center United Methodist Church has been established.

Pauline was born in Mediapolis, Iowa the daughter of Richard W. and Emma (Holmquist) Carlson. She graduated from Yarmouth High School and was formally a member of the Yarmouth United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women's Society. She was a member of the Burlington Farm Bureau, Mediapolis Order of the Eastern Star, and was currently a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Redfern on October 7, 1929. He preceded her in death in 1966. She married Kenneth Wasson on November 27, 1970 and he preceded her in death in 1998.

Survivors include three daughters, Donna Maas of Kalona, IA, Phyllis and husband Loren Allen of Cedar Falls, IA, Rita Redfern of Shelton, CT, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, one step son and two step grandchildren.

Preceding Pauline in death were her parents, husband Kenneth Redfern, husband Kenneth Wasson a son in law, Meredith Maas Jr., two sisters, Dolores Marshall and Mildred Jones, and one brother, Richard Carlson.
