Joseph "Wayne" Handsaker, 77, of Colo, died at his home Saturday, August 16, 2003 after a long-term illness.
Wayne was born June 24, 1926, the son of John William "Bill" and Clara (Burhart) Handsaker. Wayne graduated from Colo High School in 1944 and served in the US Air Force. He was united in marriage to Ester Winborn August 7, 1953 in the Sharon Center Evangelical United Brethren Church near Kalona, Iowa. Wayne was a farmer and seed corn dealer, who was born and lived his entire life on the family century farm. He enjoyed wookworking, refinishing and making something out of nothing. Wayne and his wife, Ester enjoyed traveling. He was a member of the Colo United Methodist Church.
Wayne is survivied by his wife, Ester, of Colo; daughters Anna Handsaker of Bettendorf, Iowa, Marla (Byron) Turk of South Lake Tahoe, California; and one son, Rex (Bonita) Handsaker of Sanford, North Carolina; three grandchildren; Brandon (Allison) Handsaker and Brooke Handsaker, all of Sanford, North Carolina, Jack Turk of South Lake Tahoe, California; three brothers: John (Evelyn) Handsaker, Merlin (Margaret) Handsaker, both of Colo, Iowa and Vernon (Hyllis) Handsaker of Story City, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clifford (Darlene) Handsaker.
