Theren T. Wyatt passed away peacefully September 22, 2007 after a long illness. He was 77.
Funeral Service: 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, TX.
Memorials: Because of his love for animals, the family requests in lieu of flowers any charitable contributions be made in his memory to the Humane Society of North Texas, 1840 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth, TX 76103 or to the SPCA of Texas, 2400 Lone Star Dr., Dallas, TX 75266-0412.
Theren Wyatt was born near Hickory Flat, AR on January 20, 1930. He was the eighth and last son born to Ethel and Virgil Wyatt. He grew up on an Arkansas farm during the depression years. He attended several one-room rural schools and Pangburn High School.
In 1947 at age 17 he joined the Air Force. In 1950 he married Peggy Whitener, from Pangburn, AR. His 20-year Air Force career included assignments in Panama, Brazil, Alaska and several bases in the States along with a number of commendations. While stationed in Panama he became a Mason. In the Air Force he served as an air traffic controller and he traveled extensively as a member of the Inspector General's Office before retiring in 1968. Upon retiring he settled in Arlington, TX, where he has resided since. Since moving to Arlington he has been an avid Cowboy, Ranger and Maverick fan.
From 1968 till 1978 he worked in the Training Dept. at LTV. On December 28, 1976 he married Dorothy Ann Boller, a co-worker. Then he worked as a heavy machinery supervisor at MBM International before completely retiring. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking and raising animals and birds, especially Barbado sheep on his small acreage in Arlington. He loved to cook, a skill he learned from his mama. He was also very handy at making, building, fixing and repairing things, a talent he attributes to his dad. Something he acquired from both his parents was a love for bluegrass music.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Leaburn, Merle, Russell, Linza, Wayne, Warren and James Wyatt; a brother-in-law, Jack Boller; a former wife, Peggy Leenerts; and a daughter Patricia Wyatt.
His is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ann; two daughters, Sharron Allen and husband, Dwain and Tammy Westbrook and husband, Terrence; a son, Greg Wyatt; seven-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sister-in-laws, Alice Boller of Ft. Worth, Kay Wyatt and Wilda Wyatt of Arkansas and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
A service will also be held at Sharon Center United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2007 followed by burial at Sharon Center United Methodist Cemetery near Sharon Center, Iowa.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Arlington Memorial Hospital, Heritage Oaks and Universal Inpatient Hospice Facility for the care and kindness shown Mr. Wyatt and his family during his illness. Also thanks to Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Thompson for many years of excellent medical care.
