Everett Winborn
1912-1996

Everett Winborn, 83, of rural Kalona died March 16, 1996 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, following a brief illness.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Wednesday March 20 in the Sharon Center United Methodist Church with the Re. Bobb Barrick, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Born November 5, 1912, in Sharon Center Township, Johnson County, he was the son of John T. and Mabel F. (Schwimley) Winborn, and graduated from Sharon Center High School in 1931.
He married Martha Edmund August 5, 1944 in Ottumwa and had been a farmer.
Mr. Winborn was a lifelong member of the Sharon Center United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Masonic Lodge No. 549, the Sharon Center Corona Chapter, order of Eastern Star and the Old Capital Kiwanis Club, Iowa City.
He also was a commissioner for the Johnson County Soil & Water Conservation District for 25 years and had been a 4-H leader.
He is survived by his wife; one son and one daughter-in-law, Phil and Karen Winborn, Kalona; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Marcia and Jerry Yoder, Loveland, Colorado and Mary and Les Yoder, Kalona; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Walter and Jeanette Winborn, Boonville, Missouri, Russell and June Winborn, Iowa City and Charlotte Winborn, Kalona; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lucille Williams, Iowa City, Alice and Harvey Thompson, Ames and Esther and Wayne Handsaker, Colo and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Milton Winborn.
Peterseim Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
