Dorothy C. Stutsman

Dorothy C. Stutsman, 69, of Route 3 died Tuesday at her home after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Stutsman was born April 26, 1917, in Johnson County, a daughter of Elmer and Ella Mentzer Amish. Her parents died when she was young and she was raised by her grandparents, Reynolds and Mary Amish. She married Eldon Stutsman on Aug. 3, 1937, in West Liberty. The couple lived in Johnson County all of their married lives.
She was a member of Sharon Center United Methodist Church in rural Kalona, United Methodist Women, Johnson County Extension Council, Johnson County Farm Bureau, and Corona Chapter Order of Eastern Star in Sharon Center. Mrs. Stutsman was also a 4-H leader, an honorary 4-H member, and had worked as a volunteer at Atrium Village in Hills.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Ronald E. and James R., both of Iowa City, and Roger C. of Riverside; three daughters, Carolyn (Mrs. Lewis M.) Holiday of Monroe, Conn.; Donna (Mrs. Terry M.) Davis of Stuttgart, Germany, and Cathie (Mrs. Phillip) Berglund of Iowa City, and 13 grandchildren.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sharon Center United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cememtery. The Rev. Yon Schoenmaker will officiate.
The family requests that donations be made to the church.
