Sharon Center, Jan. 27 - The funeral of F. J. Meer which was held at the Evangelical church on Sunday afternoon was one of the largest held here recently.
Though Mr. Meer had not been in good health for some time, he was still actively engaged in his usual occupations, and his sudden death came as a great shock to his family and friends. Last Thursday he was filing his ice house. In the evening he took the children to Sharon and while they were at band practice he went over to the garage. While there he was suddenly stricken. He was at once carried to the home of his bother-in-law, W.D. Berkey, and a physician was called. He seemed to rally for a short time but soon became unconscious again and passed away about 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
Fred Meer had bee a life long resident of Sharon township. His parents died when he was still in his teens and he and his sister carried on the home farm about a mile west of Sharon Center. After his sister's marriage he ran "bachelor's hall" until he married.
He was a public spirited man, in terested in all that concerned his community, a great reader, an active member of the Masonic Lodge at Sharon. He was a member of the Evangelical Church.
Those he leaves to mourn their loss are his wife, eight children, Ralph, Ethel, Clarke, Ida May and Ada May, Roy, Robert and one sister, Mrs. Walter Hughes, all residing in Sharon township.
Mr. Meer was 53 years and 8 days old. He will be greatly missed by the entire community for his friendly genial ways made him a general favorite. The funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon by his pastor, Rev. M.E. Shank, and interment was made in Sharon Center cemetery.
