Richard Glenn Simpson, 77, of Hills, Iowa, died Friday, January 21, 2005 at his home after a long illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hills, Iowa
with Reverend Edmond Dunn officiating. Friends may call Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City, where a wake service will be held at 7:30 PM. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in rural Hills with graveside military rites provided by Coralville American Legion and assisted by other local military organizations. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Richard Simpson Memorial Fund.

Richard was born February 13, 1927 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Glenn & Lela V. (Gringer) Simpson. He married Marge Volk – Evans July 5, 1967. Richard started Simpson Tile in 1972 in Coralville, Iowa which after retirement, he passed on to his sons. He was very involved in many of his children’s activities as a Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader, Little League coach and Babe Ruth coach. Richard was also a member of the Iowa City Moose Lodge #1096, Iowa City Eagle’s Lodge and Hills Town & Country Club.

His hobbies included fishing, ice skating, hunting, gardening, bowling and playing cards with friends and family. Richard also loved taking family vacations and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his wife Marge; his children, Marcy Simpson of Arlington, Texas, Wendy
Boaz of Hills, Donna (Raymond) Delzell of Coralville, Karen (Mike) Stufflebeam of Hills,
Jim Simpson of Coralville, Tim (Melanie) Simpson of Hills, Tom (Danielle) Simpson of Iowa City, Gary (Tonya) Simpson of Iowa City and Ricky Simpson of Glenwood, Iowa;
Sisters, Shirley (Garold) Westfall of Buffalo, Missouri, Donna (William) Launspach of Iowa City; brothers, Steve (Sally) Simpson of Tiffin and Mark (Lori) Simpson of West Liberty;
a special aunt, Thelma Kornegor of Iowa City, sisters in law, Eileen (Darrell) Wallace of Oxford, Virginia (Tom) Travis of Coralville and Donna Volk of Coralville, 22 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Terry Simpson, his mother and father in law and a brother in law, Mike Volk.
