Nancy L. Moss, age 86, died peacefully on Sunday, October 8th, 2017, at her home in Port St. Lucie, FL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. A time of refreshments and fellowship will be held at the funeral home following the cemetery services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Eastern Iowa Alzheimer’s Association in Nancy’s memory. Nancy was born April 6th, 1931 here in Iowa City to George and Dorothy Spencer. Nancy attended, and graduated from, City High in 1949 and then transitioned to the, then, State University of Iowa. Nancy married Gerald C. Balloun in 1950 and, after his death in an automobile accident, later married John V. Moss. Nancy was a devout member of the Vineyard Church, initially in Muscatine, IA and then in Port St. Lucie, FL. Nancy was, and probably still is, a staunch Iowa Hawkeye fan, as well as of the Green Bay Packers. For many decades, Nancy truly enjoyed her job at the University of Iowa in the Financial Aid office, retiring in 1993.

Nancy’s family includes her three daughters, Linda of Port St. Lucie, FL; Diana (Maas) of Hagerstown, MD; and Jane of Iowa City, IA; as well as her son, Jerry (Gerald) who preceded her in death; nephew, David Tetzlaff (Daly City, CA); grandchildren, Rob Moss (Iowa City), Carl Nelson Jr. (Indianapolis, IN), Brianna Nelson (Port St. Lucie, FL), Brenton Nelson (Columbia, MD), Megan Moss (Iowa); great-grandchildren, Galen Nelson, Elisa van Meur, Alexis Nelson, Carl Nelson III, and Thomas White Jr.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Gerald Balloun and John Moss; her son, Jerry; sister, Jane Thompson (Minneapolis, MN), and 2 great-grandchildren, Gavin and Erin Nelson.
