Deaths
Fern L. Murray
Fern L. Murray, 87, formerly of Iowa City, died Saturday at a Davenport nursing home following a lengthy illness.
Funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church, Iowa City. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford. the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at the Donohue Mortuary.
Mrs. Murray was born Feb. 15, 1886 in Union Township, Johnson County, the daughter of Edwin and Jennie Hartsock Hummer. She was married to Thomas F. Murray at St. Patrick's Church in Iowa City, and he died in 1943. She had been living in Davenport since 1969.
In Iowa City, she was a member of St. Mary's Church and the parish Alter and Rosary Society.
Surviving are two sons, Paul J. of Louisville, Ky., and Francis of Tuckahoe, N.Y.; a daughter, Mrs. Rex (Elaine) Foushe of Pleasanton, Calif.; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Luva Creason of River Pines, Calif., and a brother, Ivan of Kalona.
In addition to her husband, a daughter preceded her in death.
