Shirley Erwin Yeries passed away peacefully on April 12, 2017 after a long illness.

Shirley was born on May 13, 1946 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Clair and Dorothy Erwin. She lived in Laurel Iowa, until she left to attend college at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Graduating with a degree in Library Sciences she moved to Marshalltown where she taught school until she met her husband John Yeries. They were married in 1979 and lived on John’s family farm near Tiffin, Iowa. Shirley began teaching at Clear Creek High School shortly after they were married. While teaching full time she earned her Master Degree and continued as the Clear Creek Amana High School librarian until her retirement in 2007.

Shirley was the founder of Springmier Community Library in Tiffin, Iowa. She worked very hard to bring this wonderful library to the community.

Shirley and John were blessed with two children, Sarah and Jacob and one beautiful granddaughter Ava.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband John and her parents Clair and Dorothy Erwin.

She is survived by her children, granddaughter, her sister, Joan Anderson of Lincoln, Nebraska her brother James Erwin of Marshalltown, Iowa, and her sister-in-laws Lorraine (Ray) Kutcher and Mary Jean (Paul) Stebral of Iowa City.

A memorial service to celebrate her amazing life will be at 11:00am, Wednesday, April 26 at the Lensing Funeral Service's Kirkwood Room in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers the family requests all memorials be directed to the Springmier Community Library in Tiffin.
