Robert J. Anciaux age 85 of Iowa City, Iowa died on November 29, 2016 peacefully in his sleep. A small memorial service will begin at 1:30 P.M. on January 13, 2017 at the Lensing Funeral Home. No memorials please. Burial will be in Memory Gardens.

Robert was born June 17, 1931 in Iowa City, son of Leo A. and Lolita Anciaux. In 1935 the family moved to a farm in Newport Township. He graduated from Iowa City High School in 1949 and Iowa City Commercial College in 1950. He worked for the University of Iowa until enlisting in the US Air Force in 1951. In his 21 year career he had assignments to Air Force Bases near San Antonio, Cheyenne, San Francisco, Albuquerque, St. Louis, North Dakota, overseas in Germany, Greenland, and the Azores Islands. He was even assigned to the Pentagon for a while. He retired in 1973 as a Technical Sergeant and returned to Iowa City.

Robert traveled the world and appreciated good food, good drinks, and beautiful things. He loved classical music and collecting coins and guns.

He was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his brother Willis Anciaux in Appleton Wisconsin, sister Dolores (Casebolt) in Newark California, sister Marilyn (McCreary) in Cedar Rapids Iowa, and sister Linda (Tomcek) of Schofield Wisconsin, along with nieces and nephews across the country.
