Linda Lloye Jordan, 76, died peacefully Thursday, November 24th at the Oaknoll Health Center surrounded by her family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM, Sunday, December 4th in the Spring Street Community Room, Fifth Floor, at Oaknoll. Rev. Anita Johnson will officiate. Family committal services will be at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Oaknoll Foundation or to Friends of the Iowa City Public Library Foundation.

Linda was born August 21, 1940 in Rockford, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Gladys Wildebaur Smith. Linda received her bachelor’s degree and her PhD from the University of Iowa. On June 25, 1965 Linda married Herbert Jordan in Iowa City.

She was an adjunct professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa. Linda was also a speech pathologist in the Department of Neurology at UIHC.

Linda was past president of the Iowa Speech, Language and Hearing Assn and had received Honors from the same organization. She was a Fellow with the American Speech, Language and Hearing Assn; a member of PEO, Chapter KP, and founding member of “The Preferred.”
Linda was very creative and liked to garden, sew, cook and paint. Most important to Linda was her family, especially doting on her grandchildren.

The family extends their thanks to the staff at Oaknoll Health Care Center, Iowa City Hospice, and all those who cared for and attended to Linda.

Survivors include her husband, Herb and their two children, Jennifer Lee (Michael) Jordan (Molitor) of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Andrew Lloyd (Deborah) Jordan of Tipton; five grandchildren, Finn Cheney Jordan, Neil Lloyd Jordan, Margaret Jane Molitor, Charles Nicholas Jordan Molitor and Ivy Lynn Molitor; her sister, Mary Ruth (William) Carpenter of Fort Myers, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Thomas Michael.
