Lou E. Bringman, 86, formerly of Iowa City, died unexpectedly on Friday, October 7, 2016 in Dixon, Illinois.

Funeral Services will begin Saturday, October 15th at 2:00 pm, at Lensing’s Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road, in Coralville. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Iowa City. Instead of flowers or plants, Lou would have preferred that you donate to a charity or cause that you support.

Lou was born August 12, 1930 in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Bessie (Godwin) Crouse. Lou graduated from Napier High School and received her BSN from St. Luke’s Nursing Program.

She worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City until her retirement. In 2016, Lou moved to Dixon, Illinois to be closer to her daughter and family. Lou was a member of First United Methodist Church in Iowa City.

She is survived by her daughter Ruth Putney of Rochelle, Illinois, two grandchildren, Alisha Thompson (Derek) of Pinedale, Wyoming and a grandson, Blaine Bell (Courtney), 5 great-grandchildren, Landen, Kennedy, Emily, Grace and Colton and nephew, Brian Bringman of Lockport, New York.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Brenda Bringman and a sister, Fern Lundy.
