Julia “Julie” Kathryn Stevens, 73, of Olathe, KS, formerly of Iowa City, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Friday, September 23, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Iowa City with The Very Reverend Rudolph T. Juarez officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at the church.

Private burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Hospital, or St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Julie was born on December 20, 1942 in Clear Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Victor and Marcella (Staebell) Zender. She was a graduate of Iowa City High School. Julie was a financial secretary for The Iowa City Community School District for 31 years, retiring in 2007. She was a member of St. Patrick Church. Julie was an avid reader.

Julie is survived by her two children, Mark Stevens of Decatur, IL, and Katie (Tom) Boge of Olathe, KS; three grandchildren, Kyle, Kellie and Kohl Boge; two siblings, Karen Nelson of Solon, and Vic (Donna) Zender of West Branch, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents.
