Robert N. “Butch” Hoffner, 58, of Iowa City, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, September 23, 2016.

Robert Neil “Butch” Hoffner was born on May 31, 1958 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to August and Louise (Suchomel) Hoffner. Robert relocated from Tipton to Iowa City and had lived here the majority of his life. Butch graduated from college with a degree in Computer Science and also enjoyed volunteering at the Faith Baptist Church in Iowa City.

Butch is survived by his siblings Bev (Lee) Templeton of Clarence, Barb (Robert) Maddix of Iowa City, Vincent Hoffner of Dallas, Texas, Jazz (Brent) Housmann of Hopkinton and Victoria “Tootie” (Harry) Dundee of Stanwood. He is also survived by his step mother, Barb Hoffner and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Virgil Hoffner and his sister, Vicki Clark.

A gathering to celebrate Butch’s life will be held at a later date.
