Griffin L. Tauke, age 9, of North Liberty, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at home in his Dad’s arms.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, September 12th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Coralville. Fr. Stephen Page will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty. Griffin’s family will greet friends Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Lensing’s Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road in Coralville.
Instead of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to The Griffin Tauke Memorial Fund, The Bennett Tauke Education Fund or the National Save the Sea Turtle Foundation.
Griffin was born July 5, 2007 in Iowa City, to Scott & Kelsey (Brandel) Tauke. He attended Penn Elementary in North Liberty. He was active in Boy Scouts and loved to sell popcorn.
Griffin always wanted a pet turtle. He held a passion and concern for saving sea turtles. Why, we don’t know! He loved to do crafts, build things, play minecraft, and follow his favorite Youtubers while having a cup of coffee. Amazon, Steak and shake, and claw machines, those are a few of his favorite things.
Griffin is survived by his parents, Scott and Kelsey Tauke of North Liberty;
his brother Bennett of North Liberty; grandparents, Jean and Gerald Tauke and Tim and Deb Brandel, all of Dubuque; many aunts, uncles and cousins.The family wishes to thank Griffin’s nurse, Larry Mossman from Iowa City Hospice, the staff at Iowa City Hospice and the staff at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
