Reta was born on April 22, 1934 in Iowa City, the daughter of DeWaine Knox Slade and Geneva Donna (Oakes) Slade. She grew up in Tiffin and graduated from Tiffin High School. On April 20, 1952, Reta married C.E. Bill Bream in Iowa City. Reta and Bill lived in Tiffin until 1986, at which time they bought the farm next to the Oxford Cemetery. In addition to farming, Bill and Reta owned Bream Bins and Buildings. After selling the business in the mid 1980’s, Reta worked in Food Service for over 30 years, including working for West High, Clear Creek, Chatham Oaks and HyVee. In her free time, Reta enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking, bird watching, picking up sticks in the timber and making bonfires, and most importantly – spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her three children: Wanda (Larry) Sedivec, Don (Becky) Bream, and Michael (Connie) Bream, all of Oxford; seven grandchildren: Scott (Sydney) Sedivec, Sarah (Jason) Hunzinger, Jason (Alicia Buckley) Bream, Matthew (Elise) Bream, Kelly (Nick Poch) Bream, Sara (Ross) Casteel, and Bradly Bream; a great-grandson Jacob Hunzinger, a sister Donna Jean (Darren) Dietrich of Cedar Rapids, and a sister-in-law Vickie Slade of Tiffin. Reta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Vernon Slade and a sister Ethel LaVerne Aubrecht.
