Michael P. "Mike" Halverson, 47, of Ely, formerly of North Liberty, passed away Sunday, April 24th, 2016 at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City after a short battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

Mike was born December 2, 1968 in Webster City, Iowa, to Allan & Sharon (Schlichting) Halverson. Mike grew up in the Cedar Falls area, graduating from Cedar Falls High School in 1987. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa, and received his accounting degree from Coe College.

Mike adored his wife Breyan. His daughters, Ally, Katey and Tori were the loves of his life. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Philadelphia Eagles his entire life. He also enjoyed playing softball, volleyball, and he had fun with his fantasy football group, and "CF" group of guys. Mike could not get enough Buffalo Wild Wings. He was a fighter with a smile on his face, and he will be dearly missed.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife and caregiver, Breyan Neyland; his children, Ally, Katey, and Tori Halverson, all of North Liberty; a step-daughter, Maddie Strickland of Dubuque, his parents, Al & Sharon Halverson of Coralville; his sister, Cheryl (Mike) Hackney of Westerville, OH, his brother, Steve (Meredith) Halverson and their children, Liam & Sadie, all of Peosta; a grandmother, Doris Schlichting of Chico, CA and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to support any of the following:
