Leslie E. Weber Jr. M.D., 89, of Coralville, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Lantern Park Specialty Care.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, April 8, 2016 at Lensing’s Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Rd, Coralville. Visitation will be held from 1-3 PM prior to the funeral. Burial will be in East York Cemetery, Williamsburg.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to CAFE Johnson County or Wounded Warrior Project.

Les was born on March 30, 1927 in Iowa City, the son of Leslie E. Weber Sr. and M. Mildred Nafus. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Hynek on August 6, 1950 in Marshalltown, IA; she preceded him in death on November 12, 1993. Les received his B.A. from The University of Iowa in 1951 and his M.D. in 1954. On December 3, 1994, Les married Ann Hutchcroft in Knoxville, IL. Dr. Weber was in private practice in Wapello, Iowa from 1955 – 1981. He then practiced at The University of Iowa, Department of Family Medicine from 1981-1995 and Mercy Services from 1995 – 1996. Les retired from Integra Health in Cedar Rapids in 2000.

Les was a member of American Academy of Family Physicians and Past President of Iowa Academy of Family Physicians. He was a former member of Noon Pilot Club of Johnson County. Les served as an officer for Sons of Union Veterans of Civil War Twombly Camp No. 2. He was active in Tar Wars, an anti-tobacco program for grade schoolers, and Cafe Johnson County. Les enjoyed his hostas, was an avid Hawkeye fan, and Civil War buff.

Les is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter, Lisa Ann (Jim) Wachendorf of Coralville, IA; grandson, James (Tara) Wachendorf of North Liberty; three sisters, Claire Adele Spearing of Kaneohe, HI, Mildred Ann (Howard) Garton of West Bend, IA, and Russ Alinda (Craig) Howell of Deming, NM; parents-in-law, Sally and James Hutchcroft of Knoxville, IL; and many extended family.

Les was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn, and his parents.

Les’ family would like to thank the dedicated, professional and compassionate staff at UIHC, Lantern Park Specialty Care and Initiatives Hospice.
