Kermit A. Allen, 92, of Marshalltown, formerly of Coralville, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am in the Chapel at the Sheeler Building at the Iowa Veterans Home where his wife Suzanne resides. A Graveside service will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg, IL. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to the Rape Victim Advocacy Program of Iowa City.

Kermit was born on July 4, 1923 in St. Paul, MN, the son of Jerry B. and Angeline A. Allen. He graduated from Granada High School in Granada, MN. Kermit received his B.A. from Knox College in Galesburg, IL and his Masters from Columbia University in New York. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a pilot who completed 88 missions. Kermit was a drama teacher for 35 years in the Galesburg and Chicago area. He also owned the Rustic Barn Dinner Theater in Bloomingdale, IL for five years. Kermit was united in marriage to Suzanne Miller on October 4, 1997 in Iowa City, IA. They resided in Elkhorn, WI until moving to Coralville, IA.

Survivors include his wife Suzanne of Marshalltown (formerly of Coralville, IA); three children, Roger (Evie) Miller of Des Moines, IA; Karla (Jean Bott) Miller of Coralville, IA; and JoEtta (William) Costello of Morton Grove, IL; two grandchildren, Sarah (Jeremy) Schuller of Norwalk, IA and Seth (Aaron Dawdy) Miller of Des Moines, and two great grandchildren Matthew and Hannah Jameson of Norwalk, IA.

Kermit was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, late wife, Naoma B. Allen, step-daughter Michelle, and sister Peggy Bindner of Cedar Rapids, IA.
