Scott M. Jones, 53, died peacefully Thursday, December 3rd at home surrounded by family.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, December 7th at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Brent Hartwig officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or to Friends of the Animal Center Foundation.

Scott was born October 28, 1962 in Iowa City, the son of Ronald and Barbara (Griffith) Jones. He grew up in Coralville and was a 1981 graduate of West High School.

Scott considered himself blessed to have fulfilled three wishes in his life. The first was working with his father for 32 years in the family business, Ron Jones Masonry. Scott’s second lifelong dream was to be employed in construction material delivery, otherwise known as a dump truck driver. That dream was fulfilled by being employed with Rittenmeyer Trucking. His third dream was fulfilled by marrying, Jane, the love of his life. Jane Kasper and Scott met at Johnson Auto Service. Scott gave Jane a ride back to work and the rest is history. They married on October 16, 1999.

Scott loved NFL football, golf and being outside.

Survivors include his wife Jane, his step daughter Kristin Lewis of Chicago, IL. and his step son Nick Lewis (Leena Im) of Washington DC; grandson, Oliver; his parents, Ronald and Barbara of Iowa City; his brother Todd of Iowa City; his aunt, Sheila Payton and uncle Michael Griffith; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Dennis) Jacobsen, John DiViggiano and Carolyn (Bjorn) Hansson; nieces and nephews, Rebecca, Robbie and Christopher Jones, John (Justine) Jacobsen, Anne (Justin) Watson and Daniel Jacobsen; and great niece Rosemary Watson.

Scott was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Mary DiViggiano and grandparents.
