Thomas M. Oblinger, 77, of Coralville died suddenly on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at his home.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Tom’s life will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, December 4, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 302 13th St. S in Grand Junction, IA. Burial will be at the Grand Junction Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Iowa Public Television, PO Box 6400 Johnston, IA. 50131, Ducks Unlimited c/o Lensing Funeral Home PO Box 167, Iowa City, IA 52242 or First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction.

Tom was born September 29, 1938 in Jefferson, Iowa, the son of Charles and Anne (Bonynge) Oblinger. Tom graduated from the University of Iowa in 1960. He was drafted in the United States Army during Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1962. Tom was a third generation owner of Oblinger Clothing Store in Grand Junction. He married Zelda Hester in Grand Junction and they moved to Iowa City in 1982. He worked in sales for a number of years in both Amana and Iowa City. Throughout his entire life he maintained close relationships with friends and family. He will be greatly missed.

Tom is survived by his two daughters, Heidi Barker (Sean) and Kristen Ivy (Steve) all of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Owen Barker, Griffin Barker, and Annabelle Ivy; his brother Charles Johnson (Carol); and numerous extended family and loyal friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Zelda, and his sister Carol Oblinger.
