Paula Sufficool

Paula Sufficool passed away on November 28, 2015 after a short battle with gastric adenocarcinoma. She was born in Cedar Rapids on March 9, 1948 to James and Doris (Williams) Sufficool. She was a graduate of Bellevue High School and Iowa State University.

Paula was a Histotechnologist at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, retiring in 2010. She was a member of Iowa Society of Histotechnology, National Society for Histotechnology, and Pilgrim Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution.

She enjoyed nature, gardening, cooking, and travel. But Paula was best known for her beautiful handmade cards and exceptional quilts, many of which were donated to the In God’s Arms Quilting Group at Holy Trinity Church in North Liberty where they will be finished and donated to the Pediatric Oncology Department.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Cherishing Paula’s memory includes Aunts, Uncles, many cousins, best friend Jenny Youngs, and all those who knew and loved her.

Per Paula’s wishes, cremation has occurred and her ashes will be scattered on Monterey Bay, one of her favorite places to visit. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Hazelton, Iowa.

Memorials may be made to the Homeless Veterans c/o Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.
