Scot D. Heery, 54, of Iowa City, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, October 23, 2015 at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, 104 3rd St. SW, Dyersville, IA 52040.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice, Iowa Public Television, or Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center.

At a later date an Irish funeral will be held in Iowa City, please check Facebook for details.

Scot was born on June 19, 1961, the son of Daniel and Janet (Weber) Heery. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Radiologic Technology in 1984. Scot was united in marriage to Cheryl Leick on March 18, 1995 in Luxemburg, IA. He was a member of ARRT, ISRT and ASRT, different radiology organizations, and co-authored several research articles. In 2004 and 2013 Scot received Radiology Tech of the year, as well as Above and Beyond Recognition three times for interaction with co-workers and patient care. He was an Eagles member and enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his wife. Scot was also a diehard Hawkeye fan, Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, and White Sox fan.

Scot is survived by his wife Cheryl; parents Dan Heery of Lake Villa, IL and Janet Heery of Dyersville, IA; five siblings, Maureen (Roger) Bowman of Tallapoosa, GA, Curt (Shelley) Heery of Lake Villa, IL, Bret (Renee) Heery of Commerce Township, MI, Christi (Jeff) Zupec of Clermont, FL, and Keith (Jessica) Heery of Grayslake, IL; nieces and nephews, Karisa and Blair (Adam) Nadermann, Mathew and Joshua Heery, Collin and Brooke Heery, Braeden and Brynn Zupec, Ashley Heery, Steve (Marie) Leick, Sarah (AJ) Fitzsimmons, Michelle (Jared) Vetsch, Katie (John) Leick, Rachel (Charles) Goetzinger, Ryan Leick, Courtney Leick, Samantha (Cody) Olson, Tyler Leick, Tiffany, Marissa, and Nicole Kemp; great nieces and nephews Mikayla, Kendra and Drake Barry, Sean Plaste, Riley, Aidan, and Connor Leick, Cohen and Asher Vetsch; father and mother in-law, Merl and Ruth Leick, Luxemburg; brothers and sisters-in-law Merlin (Deb) Leick, Peosta, Jim (Paula) Leick, Durango, Ron (Peg) Leick, Dyersville, Bob (Connie) Leick, Dyersville, Jean (Dave) Kemp, Dyersville.

Scot was preceded in death by his grandparents, one brother-in-law Gerald Leick, and one sister-in-law Joanie Leick.

The Family would like to thank the Iowa Donor Network, SICU, Trauma, neurosurgeon, Palliative Care Team, and the care the nurses and support teams at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, SNICU and 7JCE gave during this difficult time.
