Marilyn R. Mottet Dickens, 87, a lifelong resident of Iowa City, died Sunday, October 18th at The Kahl Home in Davenport, surrounded by her loving family.

The family will greet friends Thursday from 9:00 – 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 am at the church with Reverend Jeff Belger officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Iowa City.

Instead of flowers and plants, memorials in Marilyn’s name may be directed to The Kahl Home, 6701 Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport, Iowa, 52807.

Marilyn was born July 4, 1928 in Iowa City, the daughter of Paul and Regina (Dalton) Mottet. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School and attended the University of Iowa for 3 years. Marilyn married Richard A. Dickens September 15, 1951 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Iowa City.

Marilyn dedicated her time and energy to her family and raising four boys. She loved her family, loved the freedom of growing up in a rural area near Iowa City, flowers and Holiday lights.

She is survived by her children, Richard Dickens of Hoffman Estates, IL; Tom Dickens of Laguna Beach, CA; Dan Dickens of Bettendorf and Paul Dickens of Iowa City; five grandchildren, one great grandchild; and one sister Martha (Dr. John) Bauer of Iowa City.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, Charles “Buzz” Mottet and Jerry Mottet, and her sister Catherine Dickens.
