Sylvette E. Soule Martin, 87, of Paris, France died peacefully Sunday, August 2nd at the home of her daughter.

Graveside Committal Services will be at 3PM, Tuesday, August 4th at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorials fund has been established. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service.

Sylvette was born February 7, 1928, the daughter of Firmin Soule and Fernande Samedi . She was a lifelong resident of Paris where she was a realtor. Sylvette has a Masters of Arts degree and had been an artist at Les Beaux Arts Paris. In March of 2015 she moved to Iowa City.

Survivors include her three children, Valérie Martin of Iowa City, Marie-Paule Nogues (Walter) of Mauritius and Phillippe Martin of Madagascar; her sister, Josette Dupenne of Paris; eight grandchildren, Alice (John), Corentin, Cassandre, Alexandre, Laetitia, Océane, Galaad and Léonie; her dear friend, Antoinette Masson of Britany; her niece, Marie-Dominique Dupenne of Paris; and her Golden Retriever “Maximus”, Siamese Cat “Gladiator” (Glad), Maine Coon Cat “Kitten” and Arabian Horse “Aslan”.

Sylvette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Claude Martin and her sons, Jean Thomas Martin and Geoffroy Martin.
