Thomas James Spenler
May 11, 1954 - July 31, 2013

Thomas James Spenler, 59, of New Hampton, died July 31, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Thomas donated his body to the University for scientific research purposes. Private graveside services will be held at the Lone Tree Cemetery. Online condolences for the Spenler family may be sent to www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Thomas James Spenler was born May 11, 1954, in Washington, the son of Vernon and Mary Ellen (Askea) Spenler. Thomas was a 1972 graduate of West High School in Iowa City and attended Kirkwood Community College. Thomas enjoyed wrestling in high school.

Thomas will be deeply missed by his sister, Margaret Riggan of Kalona, brother, Robert Spenler of Navarre, Florida, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Vernon Lee Spenler, brother-in-law, Lyle Riggan and sister-in-law, Kathy Spenler.
