Madonna ”Marvine” Donohoe, 79, died peacefully Sunday, July 5th at Lantern Park Nursing & Rehab Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with The Very Reverend Rudolph T. Juárez officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Holbrook, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City -- a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Mercy Hospital Foundation.

Marvine was born April 7, 1936 in Marengo, the daughter of James and Laura Griffin Donohoe. In 1948, the family moved from Holbrook to Iowa City. Marvine graduated from St. Patrick’s High School.

Marvine was employed as the bookkeeper for Smith Moreland, retiring in 1985. After retiring, she presented show homes on John Moreland and Mike Jensen’s behalf.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Hobbies included watching every Iowa Hawkeyes and Notre Dame football game. (Imagine that!) She also enjoyed peaceful time at the Iowa City Municpal Airport watching the planes takeoff and loved reading a book at City Park.

Marvine is survived by two sisters, Victorine Malloy of Parnell and Roseanne (Robert) Russell of Eugene, Oregon; nieces, Alice Albrecht-Harr (Jeff) of Coralville and Kathy Ellyson (Greg) of Iowa City; nephews, Jim Albrecht (Tracy) of Coralville and Sean Malloy of Rochester, Minnesota; great and great-great nieces and nephews; and many friends.
