Robert “Bob” J. Miller, 92, of Iowa City and formerly of Cosgrove, died peacefully on Sunday, July 5th at the Solon Retirement Village.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Corey Close officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service -- a Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the Church one hour prior to the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.

Bob was born September 14, 1922 on a farm near Morse, to John C. and Marie Fuhrmeister Miller. He went to country school through 8th grade and graduated from Iowa City High School in 1940. He married Rosemary O’Brien on November 25, 1942 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They lived on a farm for thirty years near Cosgrove where he was active on the St. Peter’s Catholic Church council. Bob was a 4-H leader and served on the Johnson County Fair board. Upon retirement and moving to Iowa City, he played golf with the Early Birds, making many friends.

Bob was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus - Marquette Council 842, and the Moose Lodge.

Bob is survived by his three sons, John W. (Betty) Miller of Riverside, Ronald E. (Peggy) Miller and James R. Miller, both of Iowa City; eight grandchildren: Robert (Kellie), Julie (Brian), Brian, Ben (Noor), Kate (Gaye), Jennifer, Troy, and Mike; ten great-grandchildren: Nick, Haley, Brilie, Easton, Elijah, Masen, Morgan, Alia, William, Lucas, and one on the way; sister-in-law, Eileen Schneider of Riverside; and nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter-in-law, MJ; his brother, George; and his sister, Julia Miltner.
