Nancy A. Loney, 66, of Iowa City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics following a long illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City with The Very Reverend Rudolph T. Juárez officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Nancy was born on June 19, 1948 in Iowa City, the daughter of Bernard and Agnes (Fitzpatrick). She grew up in Iowa City and graduated from Iowa City Regina High School. For over 47 years, Nancy worked in food service at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, until recently retiring.

Nancy was very active in her free time, volunteering for the Iowa Children’s Miracle Network. She was also a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where she served as an usher for many years. Nancy was also a member of St. Pat’s Singles Group, and of the American Women’s Business Association. Most importantly, Nancy loved her family and cherished the opportunities to spoil her nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her two sisters: Linda (Les) Ackerman of Plano, Texas, and Pam (Von) Miller of Iowa City; nephews: Jeremy Thomas Miller (Marcus Johnson Miller) of Altoona, Iowa, Charles (Laura) Ackerman and their children Elliot and Quinn - all of Bryan, Texas, and Jon (Jen) Ackerman and their daughter Harper - all of Dallas, Texas; and a niece, Jennifer Wildes and her two sons Tim and Jacob - all of Iowa City.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and several aunts and uncles.
