Mervin “Merv” James Dunham, 78, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015 at home surrounded by his Reach for Your Potential family.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Keokuk.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Reach for Your Potential (1705 S. 1st Avenue, Iowa City, IA 52240).

Merv was born February 27, 1937 in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Marion and Margurite Williams
Dunham. He joined the Reach for Your Potential family in 1994 and he had also attended the Adult Day Center. He enjoyed going on community outings and liked being outdoors. He loved watching the western movies and TV shows like "The Lone Ranger" and anything involving John Wayne. He also loved anything to do with farming. Merv especially enjoyed occasional trips to Kalona where he was able to revisit the “old times.” He loved looking at the old homes, farm equipment, and animals.

He was a member of the Iowa City Kiwanis Aktion Club. He was happy to participate in his favorite activities through the Iowa City Recreation SPI program and Camp Courageous of Iowa. Merv enjoyed attending holiday parties. He also enjoyed drawing and coloring -- on a few occasions, he held his own art shows and displayed and sold his own artwork. He was a great artist. Up until the end, there were two things that were never missing from his day: his smokes and a great coffee.

Merv was truly a great man. He was very much loved by those that knew him. He will be greatly missed by his staff, friends, and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
