Carl Q. Langenberg, age 84, of 2600 Carlton Lane in Springville, died Saturday, February 14, 2004 at home following sudden complications of cancer.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Carl Langenberg Memorial Fund.

Carl was born October 31, 1919 in Johnson County, Iowa, the son of Louis H. &
Flora A. (Deatsch) Langenberg. Raised in Iowa City and living there until 1966, he married Clara Burgess on November 5, 1966 in Iowa City. The couple moved to Cedar Rapids that same year. Carl was a woodworker for Nissen Corp.(Universal Gym Equipment) in Cedar Rapids for 17 years, retiring in 1985. Clara died in February of 1988 and Carl continued to live in Cedar Rapids until moving to Springville in 2002.

He was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. He enjoyed birds, fishing, hunting and gardening.

Survivors include a brother, Tom Langenberg & his wife Leone of Iowa City; five children, Bob Burgess & his wife Pam of Branson, Missouri, Linda Mendoza of Springville, Iowa, John Burgess & his wife Connie of Hiawatha, Doug Burgess of Cedar Rapids and Barb Burgess of Springville; eight grandchildren, Becky(Mark), Kelly (Crystal), John Jr., Rusty, Denise, Jim (Amy), Mike and Sherri ( Larry); 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild on it’s way and numerous nieces and nephews.

His parents, his wife, eight brothers and two sisters preceded in death.
