Dolores Kathryn Pertl, 86, died Jan. 14, 2004 at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Iowa City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Fairville, Iowa. Burial will be at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Fenton, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Iowa City Hospice or the Community Mental Health Center.

Dolores was born June 7, 1917 in Ceylon, Minnesota, the daughter of Harold and Edith Blum Smith. She attended Algona High School. She married Walter Pertl on August 8, 1935 in Lotts Creek, Iowa.

She and her husband owned Pertl Pump and Electric Company. They moved to Iowa City in 1991. She was a member of University Bridge Club, Senior Center Bridge Club and Ladies Aide.

Survivors include her son, James Pertl and his wife Gwen of St. Charles, MO; her daughters: Bonnie Gowans and her husband James of Bloomfield Hills, MI and their children Elizabeth and Stacey; and Ginger Hanson and her husband Glen of Iowa City, IA and their sons Joshua and James; and two brothers Claire Smith of Albuquerque, NM and Parker Smith of Ankeny, IA.

Dolores was preceded her in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Ron and one sister, Arlene.
