Blanche Christine Wolfe, 98, of Iowa City, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Lantern Park Care Center in Coralville.

A memorial service will be held 4 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2012, at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with a time of visitation prior to the service beginning at 2 p.m. Family graveside services will take place at Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Ronald McDonald House or Camp Courageous. Online condolences can be sent to her family through the web @www.gayandciha.com.

Blanche C. Davis was born August 7, 1914, on a farm west of Iowa City; daughter of Dewey and Hattie (Wentz) Davis. She attended rural Johnson County schools and graduated from U High with the class of 1933. For several years she kept house for the Aaron Braverman family. On December 26, 1939, she married Russell Wolfe of North Liberty, in Kahoka, Missouri. For several years, they farmed together near North Liberty before moving to a farm near Lowden in 1965. In 1970, they retired and moved to Iowa City, where Blanche provided in-home child care for many years. Russell passed away in 1977, and Blanche moved to Modern Manor in 1986, where she continued to provide child care until her move to Ecumenical towers in 1994.

Her family includes her daughter, Janet Muhs and her husband, Donald; three grandchildren, Lora (Jeremy) Sweeting, Brian and Carl Muhs; three great-grandchildren, Megan, Morgan and Ethan Sweeting as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and infant son, Jackie in 1943; brothers, John, Carl, Elmer and Dwight Davis; sisters, Gladys (Robert) Lininger and Lucille (Kenneth) Stuart.

Blanche’s family would like to thank the staff at Lantern Park for their kindness as well as Hospice staff, Gary and Nurse, Nancy Upmeyer.
