Mary Anne Molder Ping, 88 of West Branch, formerly of Coralville, Iowa and of Memphis, Tennessee died Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at Crestview Nursing Home after a brief illness.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Charles Ping, 110 Sagert Dr., West Branch, Iowa where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Burial Calvary Cemetery, Memphis, Tennessee, and Friday January 2. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Indian School, Chamberlain, SD 57326; or St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, is handling arrangements.

Mary was born January 22, 1915 in Memphis, Tennessee the daughter of William and Emma (Scholl) Molder. On May 15, 1937 she was united in marriage to James Covey Ping. They were married at St. Mary’s Church in Memphis. Mary worked for General Motors Acceptance Corp., in Memphis where she met James. Following their marriage, Mary was the life-long partner and mate to James, a devoted mother and accomplished seamstress. Along with James, she was very active in support of St. John’s Catholic Church in Memphis, Tennessee serving as Lector, Eucharistic Minister and in the choir.

She is survived by her children; James C. Ping Jr and his wife Katherine of Bryan, Ohio, Marianne Paffel and her husband Joe of Hutchinson, Minnesota, Jane E. Harris of Lakewood, Ohio, Charles D. Ping and his wife Margaret of West Branch, Iowa and Patricia R. Shevenell and her husband John of Langley, Washington; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren also survive her.

Her parents, husband and infant granddaughter preceded her in death.
