Betty Jean Campbell, 89, formerly of rural Kalona, died Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Windmill Manor Care Center in Coralville.

Services sharing memories of Betty’s life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Betty’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com.

Betty Jean Morden was born March 22, 1923, in Iowa City the daughter of Lyle and Annis (Albaugh) Morden. Growing up in Iowa City she attended schools here graduating from City High School with the class of 1942. She married Earl L. Campbell Jr. on November 17, 1945, in Ft. Worth, TX. The couple raised their family on a farm in the Kalona area, during this time she worked at Montgomery Ward’s Store in Iowa City, at City High School in the office for many years, and following Earl’s death she worked at Stiches Galore in Kalona. She was a longtime member of the Sharon Center United Methodist Church.

Her family includes her children, Steve Campbell (Barbara) of Downey, IA; David Campbell of Kalona; Bruce Campbell of Keystone, IA; Pamela Healy (Phil) of Lisbon; and Kevin Campbell (Beth) of Kalona; 9 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl Jr.; infant son, Robert; 3 sisters, Violet Nelson, Ruth Genkins, and Frances Kohl; and a granddaughter, Janet Lyn Campbell.
