Teresa R. Reynolds Cambridge, 96, of Legacy Pointe, Iowa City, died peacefully Friday, November 30, at Mercy Hospital Hospice in Iowa City.

Teresa Regina O’Connor was born September 10, 1916, in Alvord, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Loretta Spain O’Connor. After graduating from Alvord High School, she completed barber school in Sioux City and beauty school in Sioux Falls. During her studies and for several years afterward, she worked as a barber and beautician in the barbershop her father owned and operated in Alvord. In the early 1940s, she and her family moved to Iowa City, where Teresa worked at First National Bank.

She married Harold Evan Reynolds at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City on November 25, 1946. Harold died in 1991. Teresa married Richard William (“Dick”) Cambridge in Tucson, Ariz., in 1995, and they divided their time between homes in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Empire, Mich. Dick died in 1999.

Teresa was a longtime member of the Mercy Hospital Guild and actively involved with her sons’ activities in school, Boy Scouts and athletics. She was a 70-year member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. For many years, Teresa and Harold were dancers in Iowa City’s Do-Si-Do Square Dance Club. They also enjoyed playing golf with their sons and vacationing each summer at Fish Hook Lake near Park Rapids, Minn.

Surviving are sons Robert Reynolds and his wife, Vicki, of North Liberty, Iowa; John Reynolds and his wife, Coleen, of Peoria, Ariz.; and Dr. Steven Reynolds and his wife, Susan, of West Des Moines, Iowa; stepchildren Mary Ann Nichols and her husband, Robert, of Tucson, Ariz.; Bill Cambridge and his wife, Barbara, of Destin, Fla.; and Bob Cambridge and his wife, Barbara, of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren Kristin Mains and her fiancé, Chris Ulrich, and her children, Lauren, Allison and Carson, of Ankeny, Iowa; Dr. Kyle Reynolds, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; Ryan Reynolds, of Des Moines, Iowa; Lee Reynolds and his wife, Holly, and their daughter, Lexi, of Peoria, Ariz.; Morgan Reynolds, of Tucson, Ariz.; Dr. Michael Reynolds and his wife, Macey, and their daughter, Kate, of Iowa City, Iowa; Dr. Joel Reynolds and his wife, Annie, of Newark, Del.; and Christopher Reynolds, of West Des Moines, Iowa; sister Madlyn Erdman, of Rochester, Minn.; three nephews; and six nieces. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Corcoran, and a great-grandson, Nicholas Mains.

At the heart of Teresa’s life were her family and friends, whom she cared for deeply and treated with generosity and grace. Her home was always filled with beauty, warmth and love. She was an accomplished bridge player, exceptional needlepointer and knitter, and an avid rose gardener.
