Jane “Sam” K. Kurth, 65, died at home Friday, November 30th surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, December 6th at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church with Pastor Rob Dotzel officiating. Sunday parking ordinances will apply. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Iowa City Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Jane, better known to her friends as Sam, was born July 16, 1947 in Iowa City, the daughter of Harold and Lela (Hinkley) Kruse. She was a 1965 graduate of Lone Tree High School. On February 27, 1971 Sam married Keith Kurth in Lone Tree.

On February 23, 1973 Sam and Keith’s son, Ryan was born. Sam devoted the rest of her life to the care of their special son.

Sam was passionate about gardening, especially raising house plants. She lovingly cared for the many wonderful pets that became a part of their family over the years, recently Karly, their beloved schnauzer.

Sam is survived by her devoted husband, Keith and their son, Ryan; her mother Lela Kruse of Hills and her brother, Terry (Sandy) Kruse of Lone Tree; her in-laws, Virgil and Gertrude Kurth of Monona,; brother-in-laws, Ronald (Jean) Kurth and Donald (Edith) Kurth; seven nieces and nephews and their families.

Sam was preceded in death by her father.

Sam will be greatly missed.
