Kelley Lind, 33, died peacefully Friday, September 21st at home surrounded by her family.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2pm, Wednesday, September 26th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father John Spiegel officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7pm at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, where a Vigil Service will be at 7pm. The family will greet friends after 1:15pm Wednesday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Beads of Courage or Iowa City Hospice.
Kelley was born May 3, 1979 in Santa Rosa, California, the daughter of Patrick and Catherine Cooper Lind. Kelley was a graduate of Regina High School, received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and her Masters of Education degree from Northern Arizona University.
Kelley was a Child Life Specialist in pediatric oncology at Cardon Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. for the past six years. She recently returned home to the warm embrace of her family and friends who cared for her in her final days. Prior to moving to Phoenix, Kelley had been employed at UIHC and at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Children’s Hospital in Baltimore.
Kelley brought great joy and smiles to patients and staff at Cardon Children’s Hospital, where she was the chief morale officer, party planner and could dance her pants off. Kelley will be greatly missed but her star will shine in the hearts of all those she touched.
Kelley is survived by her loving parents, Patrick and Katie Lind and her brother, Riley (Lindsey), all of Iowa City; grandparents, Frank and Phyllis Cooper of Waterloo; and over 100 aunts, uncles and cousins and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thomas and Barbara Lind of Waterloo.
