Katie V. Yoder, 88, of Iowa City died October 17, 1996 at the Iowa City Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were Sunday, October 20 at 2 p.m. in the First Mennonite Church, Iowa City, with the Reverends Firman Gingerich and Diane Zaerr officiating. Burial was in the Lower Deer Creek Cemetery, rural Kalona.

Born February 5, 1908 in Johnson County, she was the daughter of John C. and Arminda (Hochstedler) Brenneman, attended rural schools in the Washington Township area and married Richard D. Yoder October 9, 1927 in Kalona.

The couple farmed near Wellman until 1933 when they moved to Iowa City where they owned and operated the Brenneman Seed & Pet Center.

Mrs. Yoder was a member of the First Mennonite Church, Iowa City, and of the Mercy Hospital Guild where she was active in knitting stocking caps for newborns.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Leland (Bud) Yoder and Kenneth and Vicki Yoder, all of Iowa City; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Edna Ruth, five sisters and six brothers.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Mennonite Service Taping for Home Ministry.
