Sara Stimmel Myrick, 60, of Solon died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 2, 2012. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Lensing Funeral Home, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Thursday at Lensing Funeral Home. Private family burial will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Friends of the Animals, PO Box 383, 320 W 6th Street, Tipton, IA 52772.
Sara was born on November 29, 1951 in Iowa City, the daughter of Earl and Frances (Brown) Stimmel. She was a graduate of Clear Creek High School and went on to spend her entire working career at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics until she retired, due to health concerns, in 2006.
Sara was a loving sister and aunt who cherished her family, friends, cats and dogs. In her free time, she enjoyed making wedding mints, decorating cakes, collecting antiques and glassware and attending auctions.
Survivors include her three siblings: Susan Steele of Lone Tree, IA, David (Burnita) Stimmel of Kalona,IA, and Sandy Huedepohl of North Liberty, IA; numerous nieces and nephews, and her three cats and three dogs which Sara consider to be her “children”.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents.
