Cedar Rapids GazetteCarolyn M. Prymek, 70 of Coralville died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City with burial to follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, where a parish vigil service will begin at 7pm. Carolyn Mary Prymek was born March 9, 1942, in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Lewis and Adeline (Balik) Prymek. She attended schools in Iowa City graduating from City High School in 1960. She continued her education by taking a number of business courses that enabled her to become a bookkeeper as her life’s profession. She had worked at Culligans Soft Water, AB Clement, Protein Blenders and just recently retired from Stutzmans in Hills this past January. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, a member of Dominic’s at St. Patrick’s and St. Wenceslaus’s Churches, and had served as President of ABWA (American Business Women Association) where she was also a member. Carolyn enjoyed china painting, stockcar races, but most of all she loved traveling, especially going to see her nieces and nephews!
Her family includes her four brothers, Kenneth of Coralville; Ronald and his wife, Pat of Des Moines, Joe of Oxford and Jim and his wife, Dianne of Iowa City; 12 nieces and nephews, 15 great-nieces and nephews, and 3 great-great- nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law, Janet Prymek, and a nephew, Jim “Smoe”.
