Helena C. Rohret, 90

Helena C. Rohret, 90, of rural Oxford died Sunday at Lantern Park Care Center following a long illness.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Cosgrove, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Richard Okumu will officiate.

Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. today at Donohue-Lensing funeral home, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, where the National Catholic Order of Foresters will recite a rosary at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations will go to Birthright Inc.

Mrs. Rohret was born Aug. 18, 1900 in Cosgrove, daughter of A.L. and Helena Ryan Kessler. She married Lawrence Rohert Feb. 22, 1922, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Cosgrove. He died in 1976.

She was a lifelong Johnson County resident. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, National Catholic Order of Foresters and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include one son, Tom of Iowa City; thre daughters, Genevieve "GeeGee" (Mrs. Lowell) Zimmerman of Oxford; Helen (Mrs. William) Houseal of St. Joseph, Mich.; and Katie (Mrs. Pat) Hughes of Cascade; one brother, Louis Kessler of Iowa City; one sister, Genevieve Kessler of Iowa City; 30 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. One daughter, three sisters and three brothers died earlier.
